Yesterday, a fire broke out in a commercial building on 1418 East Arrow Highway, Irwindale at approximately 10:35 AM. The Los Angeles County Fire Department was quickly dispatched to tackle the blaze, which disrupted traffic in the vicinity. The efforts of the fire department were supplemented by a second-alarm assignment of additional personnel, as reported by FOX LA.
Despite this reinforcement, the fire remained uncontrolled for some time, with the smoke visible from miles away, according to NBC Los Angeles.
The firefighters, working tirelessly at the scene, managed to contain the fire around noon. The fire had already done its toll to the building, tearing through its roof before it was finally extinguished. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, as featured in KTLA reports. An initial emergency call implied the possibility of an explosion preceding the blaze, but more investigations will fully confirm this.
Following the incident, Arrow Highway was temporarily closed between Rivergrade Road and the 605 Freeway by the Irwindale Police Department. For safety considerations, motorists were advised to find alternate routes. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported from this incident.
