Yesterday, a fire struck a vacant residential duplex at 645 N Gardner St in Fairfax; it was another instance in a series of fires in abandoned buildings in the vicinity. This apartment block had previously suffered a fire, reports the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), prompting residents and local citizens to consider the safety of these empty buildings and their potential community impact.
In under just 25 minutes 31 LAFD firefighters to respond quickly and extinguish the flames. While the cause of the fire is being investigated, noted in a recent LAFD update, firefighters were able to access, restrict and smother the intense fire in the 2,353 square-foot one-story building via defensive manoeuvres.
