On September 16, Los Angeles resident Charles Williams, 67, was killed in a hit-and-run incident. Williams was crossing Western Avenue, south of 52nd Street when struck by an off-white Infiniti SUV. The driver left the scene without offering aid or identifying themselves, leaving Williams critically injured, as reported by LAPD.
Members of the Los Angeles Fire Department rushed Williams to a nearby hospital where he passed away three days later.
Hit-and-run accidents are a serious concern in Los Angeles. The city has implemented Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund since 2015. This program offers up to $50,000 in reward for information leading to offender's identification, apprehension, or resolution through civil compromise.
The LAPD is actively looking to the public for assistance in finding the hit-and-run SUV and its driver. The official report notes the vehicle will have substantial damage, specifically to its hood, and potentially a shattered windshield. Anyone with information is encouraged to get in touch with the LAPD.
