Yesterday, a search was initiated in the unincorporated area of Montclair for Tomas Cubias, a missing 82-year-old man. Leaving both his home and phone behind and providing no indications of his whereabouts, concerns about his safety grew. Fortunately, Cubias was located safe just a day later, bringing relief and joy to his waiting family, as reported by the SBSD - Chino Hills Police Department.
Cubias left his residence located in the 3800 block of Hampton Drive around 3:30 p.m. on October 18, 2023, leaving behind his cellular device and effectively disappearing. This subtle, concerning incident followed suit from Cubias' known dementia symptoms, which affected his memory and other cognitive abilities. Given his condition and the suddenness of his disappearance, the local authorities and community members acted quickly, to try locate him.
The family of Tomas Cubias reached out to the Chino Hills Police Department urgently, fear looming over their loved one's safety. A physical description of Cubias was circulated; a 5-foot man weighing approximately 150 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, and last seen in a blue shirt, black pants, and black shoes. Sheriff-Coroner of San Bernardino County, Shannon D. Dicus, issued instructions to those with information about Cubias' location to contact the police. The We-Tip Hotline and website were also supplemented for assistance.
The diligent collective efforts of the Chino Hills Police Department and the local community resulted in Tomas Cubias safe location earlier today. These efforts stand as a shining example of communal action in crisis, delivering relief to Cubias' loved ones. The Department publicly thanked the community for their significant contribution to Cubias' safe return, as indicated on their official website.
