An off-duty detective from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) was involved in a shooting incident in Downey, according to a report from the LAPD Newsroom. The specifics of this incident are under ongoing investigation.
In the early morning hours of October 11, the officer from the 77th Street Area was alerted by his home security camera system to a masked individual near his property. Attempts to contact the suspect eventually led to the shooting incident. The suspect immediately fled the scene in a vehicle.
No injuries to officers or residents were reported during the incident. The Downey Police Department assumed primary investigative responsibility for the criminal aspect of the situation, while the LAPD’s Force Investigation Department tackled the administrative matters, as per the LAPD statement.
