Yesterday, a Panorama City home was engulfed by fire, leading to the death of an adult woman.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reports that the home, built in 1949, lacked both sprinkler systems and working smoke detectors. A crew of 34 firefighters extinguished the blaze in just 21 minutes, but it was already too late for the woman who had a mobility impairment, preventing her from escaping.

In addition to the deceased woman, three other occupants, including a child, managed to escape the fire and are currently undergoing medical examination for potential smoke inhalation. The LAFD suggests critical fire safety measures were absent, which contributed to the incident—a common issue in older buildings.
