On October 11, Daniel Pineda Jr. was severely injured in Los Angeles during a hit-and-run incident. The driver of the vehicle, a black Mercedes-Benz sedan, fled the scene without providing information or assistance, leaving Pineda unconscious with life-threatening injuries. The perpetrator remains unidentified and unapprehended.
Hit-and-run incidents have serious ramifications for not only the victims but also the offenders. In an effort to curb such incidents, the Los Angeles City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code in 2015. The amendment established a reward of $25,000 for information leading to the capture and conviction of hit-and-run offenders, as reported by the LAPD.

At this time, the LAPD urges anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward, as reported by the LAPD. Individuals can contact South Traffic Division Detective Chavarria directly or use the LA Regional Crime Stoppers and "P3 Tips" mobile application to report anonymously. The available reward serves as an incentive for individuals reluctant to provide details.
