
Yesterday, an early morning carjacking was reported near East State Highway 74 and State Highway 79 in Riverside County, resulting in the loss of a 2018 red Ford Mustang.
In their report, The Riverside County Sheriff's Office, mentioned an adult and a juvenile, both Hispanic males, were involved in the incident. The duo, brandishing a handgun, made a get-away with the victim’s car. Following a report and entry of the stolen vehicle into the system, Rialto Police Department was able to trace the car, leading to the apprehension of the driver, Andrew Lopez, a 23-year-old resident of Perris, during a high-risk enforcement stop.
The investigation was handled by Perris Station Robbery Burglary Suppression Team (RBST), which led to the identification of Lopez as one of the suspects. The victim's car, after being inspected for evidence at the Perris Sheriff's Station, was returned to them.
Lopez was arrested immediately for carjacking and promptly sent to the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
