Riverside County in California has activated green lights on their administrative buildings, as a symbol of gratitude toward military veterans. The county's involvement in the nationwide program, Operation Green Light for Veterans, was announced by Supervisors Karen Spiegel and Chuck Washington on November 7 at the County Administration Center Building, as per The County of Riverside news release.
The press release indicates that the Riverside County Administration Center Building will be lit to glow green from November 7 until November 12, leading to the celebration of Veterans Day on November 11. The initiative, named Operation Green Light for Veterans, is spearheaded by the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO). Their aim is to strengthen the bond between America's counties and their residing veterans.
Third District Supervisor Chuck Washington, who is himself a veteran, stressed the meaning of the event, saying, "While we light our administrative center green, we show that Riverside County is firmly committed to ensure our veterans are recognized, appreciated, and supported." Supervisor Karen Spiegel further gave her commitment to honoring veterans, expressing that manifest support for local veterans is displayed in the tangible act of making the administration building green.
