Yesterday, in the peaceful town of Monte Rio, law enforcement quickly responded to a report of a gunshot victim on the 21000 block of Moscow Road. Deputies, upon arrival, found a deceased person, initiating an immediate search for the suspect, Joseph Douchette, 41, a resident of Monte Rio. Following a post by the Sonoma Sheriff on Facebook, it was revealed that Douchette was arrested without incident, thereby allaying local fears.
Following his apprehension, investigators busied themselves to reconstruct the events leading up to the murder. During their search for evidence, a shelter-in-place order was put into effect for the inhabitants of the local area. This effort culminated in the finding of the presumed murder weapon. Douchette is now held at the Main Adult Detention Facility, charged with murder and an existing felony warrant, and is denied bail.
