San Bernardino County's Regional Parks saw a breakthrough in their outdoor recreation branding and marketing campaign, launched in May 2022. The county was recognized with a National Association of Counties 2023 Achievement Award for the campaign's significant results.
Under the banners "Step into the Great Outdoors" and "Find More to Explore", the campaign spearheaded new visuals and inclusive messaging to present Regional Parks as an accessible retreat. Regardless of the visitors' interests, the parks offer a broad range of activities and experiences.
Nearly doubling the number of awards won in the previous year, San Bernardino County successfully nabbed 160 Achievement Awards this year. Over the past two years, the county has outperformed more than 3,000 counties nationwide in terms of national awards.
Following the successful campaign, Regional Parks reported heightened attendance at events, growing website and social media traffic, and a significant increase in camping reservations.
Spanning over 8,000 acres, Regional Parks provide diverse landscapes and community spaces. The parks include prominent locations like Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, Calico Ghost Town, Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park, and Yucaipa Regional Park.
Next up on the agenda was the challenging task of not only educating county locals about the array of services offered at the parks but also establishing a reliable brand reputation nationally and internationally. Rising tourist influx and summer campers arriving at the Calico Ghost Town and the campgrounds testify to the campaign's successful groundwork.
The rebranding strategy incorporated a newly designed logo with recognisable symbols of popular park activities like hiking and camping. Furthermore, Regional Parks offer picnicking, swimming, off-roading, RV rentals, equestrian trails, disc golf courses, and sports fields. Their offering extends from picnic shelters to fully equipped RV campgrounds and rental lodges for special events.
