In an ongoing effort against crime, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department leads "Operation Consequences." Since early October 2023, several agencies have united to enhance safety and improve the quality of life in San Bernardino County, as detailed in a report from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department. The operation targets multiple areas within the High Desert and the sheriff's San Bernardino jurisdiction.

During the week of October 7–13, a number of successful crime suppression operations took place, notably in the cities of Victorville and Apple Valley. As a consequence, 15 search warrants were served in a variety of locations, including Phelan, Hesperia, Apple Valley, Victorville, Colton, San Bernardino, Yucaipa, and Running Springs. The operations led to 18 felony arrests, confiscating 56 firearms—14 of which were identified as "ghost guns." Over one-and-a-half pounds of narcotics, 1,000 marijuana plants, and 348 pounds of processed marijuana were also seized, according to the report.

A commendable unity across local, state, and federal agencies highlighted the fight against crime. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department's team comprises investigators from the Sheriff's Gangs/Narcotics Division, the Specialized Enforcement Division, and a myriad of patrol stations. Amplifying the effort, additional personnel from the California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Probation, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations collaborated, focusing on the destruction of criminal street gangs and finding individuals involved in illegal firearm possession, production, and trafficking.
