A San Luis Obispo-based real estate company executive was taken into custody yesterday, under allegations of bribery, falsification of records, and obstruction of justice. The U.S. Attorney's Office, Central District of California, identified the executive as 37-year-old Ryan Wright, according to the press release.
Wright reportedly conspired with an undisclosed individual. Together, they are alleged to have manipulated an unnamed county supervisor, exchanging over $95,000 in bribes and gifts for support of Wright's company's development projects from June 2014 to May 2017.
Concealing these illicit actions involved the exploitation of the county supervisor's consulting company. Inaccurate information was provided on the supervisor's 2015 and 2016 annual state conflict of interest disclosure forms. The indictment suggests Wright flew the supervisor on a private jet to watch a Major League Baseball playoff game in San Francisco, signifying the corruption alleged.
Following a federal grand jury subpoena served on his real estate development company, Wright allegedly produced falsified records, an action that led to his arrest and a three-count indictment.
If found guilty for all charges, the maximum sentences Wright could face include five years for conspiracy, ten years for obstruction of justice, and 20 years for falsification of records .
