Last month, on September 22, the calm of the Santa Monica morning was shattered as a lone suspect stormed into a First Citizens Bank on Montana Avenue, brandishing a weapon and demanding cash. As per the Santa Monica Police Department's (SMPD) post, bank tellers gave the money, and the suspect made a swift escape. More than a month later, on Wednesday, October 25, SMPD detectives tracked down and arrested the alleged perpetrator in Redondo Beach.
Los Angeles resident, Yolanda Denise Caldwell, 52, is the identified suspect. She now faces charges of robbery (211 PC), and is currently housed in the Santa Monica Jail. A comprehensive investigation spanning several weeks led to her capture. Multiple key pieces of evidence were discovered—a factor that made it easier to identify her.
The SMPD request anyone with further information regarding Caldwell's case to reach out to Detective Burciaga and Sergeant Gradle via their posts.
