Yesterday, a fire broke out in a mobile home in Carriage Court Mobile Home Park, Squire Lane. The Santa Rosa Fire Department, responding to several emergency calls, managed to control the situation, preventing the spread to neighboring structures. As per the department's Facebook post, no casualties were reported, but the damage is estimated at about $150,000.
The Santa Rosa Fire Department responded quickly, with the first unit arriving within a mere six minutes of receiving calls. The fire's magnitude warranted additional support, and other units were rapidly dispatched. Their prompt actions significantly influenced preventing the intense heat and flames from affecting surrounding homes.
Probings into this incident have led the investigators to believe that the fire is accidental, connected to a wood-burning stove situated in the mobile home. The response to the incident included 5 engine units, 1 ladder truck, a chief officer, and two fire investigators, as noted by the Santa Rosa Fire Department on their Facebook page.
The fire teams prioritized preventing nearby structures from catching fire. They quickly surveyed the neighboring homes for occupants, but fortunately, all had successfully evacuated. Following this, they focused solely on tackling the main structure in flames.
The firefighters experienced significant difficulty navigating the burning dwelling due to debris and burning furniture. However, they could verify the home was empty of residents, allowing them to focus on extinguishing the fire. The Santa Rosa Fire Department's data indicates it took approximately 30 minutes to suppress the fire. Still, crews remained at the scene for several hours, putting out smaller persistent fires amid the wreckage.
Once the smoke had cleared, the scope of the destruction was evident. The mobile home was reduced to cinders, one neighboring building suffered heat damage, and a vehicle in the carport turned into a charred ruin. The Santa Rosa Fire Department's expertise and determination managed to mitigate the destruction and avoid human casualties.
The residents of Carriage Court Mobile Home Park have expressed gratitude towards their local emergency services. Their effective response salvaged lives and minimized property damage. As further investigations unfold, the community will likely revisit the safety of wood-burning stoves and prevention measures for such future incidents.
