Yesterday, LAFD crews responded to a rescue mission for a 72-year-old female hiker off-route on the Bird Sanctuary Loop Trail in Griffith Park. Despite the challenging terrain, the team managed to safely return her to the trail. The woman was uninjured but had previously slipped, as per LAFD ALERT.
Successfully completing the rescue operation, the LAFD used a rope and harness system, according to the LAFD update. After the rescue, the woman declined any treatment and ambulance transportation offered by LAFD due to a minor abrasion to her leg. Instead, she was able to walk down the trail with the rescuers' assistance.
