
On Sunday, October 1, a tragedy occurred in Sugarloaf, California when one-year-old Henry Wheatley Brown was found severely burned and unresponsive. Medical personnel were unable to save the child. Following this, two individuals - including the boy's mother - were arrested on suspicion of murder which was stated in a news release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department.

After an emergency call regarding a non-breathing infant, deputies from the Big Bear Station were dispatched to the scene. The victim, Henry Wheatley Brown, was transported immediately to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The course of investigation revealed that the child, in addition to his burn injuries, showed signs of abuse. This led to the arrest of Samantha Garver, the victim's mother, and a Sugarloaf resident, Sergio Mena. Both were charged with murder, while Garver faced an extra booking for child abuse, as mentioned by CBS News.
