When providing information about the fatal incident, LAPD outlined the legal requirement of drivers in accident situations—they must stay on the scene, provide help and disclose their identities. LAPD also reminded the public of the Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. This initiative, devised by the Los Angeles City Council in 2015, pledges up to a $50,000 reward for information that aids in identifying, arresting and convicting—or reaching a civil compromise with—those responsible.
