Yesterday, a triple-vehicle collision that took place in Twentynine Palms caused disruptions and injuries. The accident occurred at about 2:21 p.m. at the intersection of Lear Avenue and Twentynine Palms Highway, as reported by the Morongo Basin Sheriff's Department.
Involved in the wreckage were three vehicles – a silver Saturn, a grey Volkswagen, and a red dump truck. The dump truck and Volkswagen were stationary at a red signal when the eastbound Saturn crashed into the back of the Volkswagen. The impact led to the Volkswagen to collide subsequently with the dump truck as per the Sheriff's Department reports.
Despite the intensity of the collision, the injuries sustained were not critical. The ambulance took the drivers and passengers to Hi-Desert Medical Center for further checks and treatment. The authorities ruled out alcohol and drug impairment in the accident, and Morongo Basin Station's Deputy R. Rodriguez is handling any further information related to the case. For investigation and vehicle removal purposes, authorities had to close the Twentynine Palms Highway briefly, as reported in the incident briefing.
