On Saturday, October 14, an unexpected fire resulted in substantial damage to an apartment complex in the 9000 block of Newport Avenue, Fontana. The intensity of the fire required a comprehensive response from the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, leading to the displacement of three residents, supported by the American Red Cross.
The event is currently being scrutinized by the County Fire's Office of the Fire Marshal. Initially, police officers discovered an active fire in an upstairs end unit apartment. This required immediate reaction, leading to evacuations and an aggressive response by firefighters. Overall, 28 personnel with six engines, two truck companies, one medic squad, a battalion chief and an investigator were involved to extinguish the fire, as reported by the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District.
Unexpectedly, in 30 minutes, the fire was successfully contained. Thanks to concerted efforts, further damage to attached residences was prevented. While the fire began in one apartment, causing extensive damage, the adjacent and underlying units were minimally affected. This is largely attributed to the swift and efficient response by the Fire Protection District. No injuries were reported among the personnel or the local community.
