On Sunday evening, October 1, in Santa Monica, an unknown hero intervened during a brutal assault. According to a press release from the City of Santa Monica, around 8:40 pm, Brian Barry Clemens (born 02/28/1972) attacked two women on Main Street. One woman on an e-bike was pinned down and strangled by Clemens, until a passerby intervened, causing Clemens to flee.
The incident was reported to authorities. Later that night, Clemens, unaware of the soon-to-come legal consequences, asked a bystander for medical help and was sent to the hospital. After identifying him, officers arrested Clemens and transferred him to the jail. As outlined by the City of Santa Monica, Clemens was officially charged yesterday, for assault with a deadly weapon (245 PC) and felony assault (243 PC).
The victim sustained only a leg injury, some scrapes, and bruises. Clemens, previously convicted for public intoxication and driving under the influence in California and other states, is now facing charges for the assault.
The Santa Monica Police Department still looking into the case. Any additional information related to the incident should be provided to Detective Tavera or Detective Sergeant Gradle, or the Watch Commander. The department encourages witnesses to continue providing valuable inputs and updates.
