The United States Postal Service (USPS) has revealed plans to increase prices in 2024, marking the second consecutive year for such an adjustment. According to the USPS announcement, the novel amendments will trigger a roughly 2 percent spike in service prices. This includes a 2-cent increase for the First-Class Mail Forever stamp. However, the proposed changes require approval from the Postal Regulatory Commission and the Postal Service governors.
In seeking to increase prices, the USPS intends not only to adjust the costs of First-Class Mail Forever stamps but also plans to amend the pricing of its Special Services products. These include Certified Mail, Post Office Box rentals, money order fees, and insurance for mailed items. These are integral parts of enhancing the organization's financial stability and service improvement under its Delivering for America 10-year plan.
