
On Monday, October 23, Ventura resident Kai Sommers, was formally charged with two counts of child human trafficking and other associated charges. The defendant has been previously convicted for a lewd act upon a child and illegal intercourse with a minor, Sommers stands accused of distribution and possession of child sexual assault material, according to the Ventura County District Attorney's Office. The defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The preliminary evidence against Sommers was obtained during a search executed by the Ventura Police Department at his residence on August 30. The case is under the purview of Deputy District Attorney Rikole Kelly, wh6 is associated with the Ventura County District Attorney's Sexual Assault Unit.
An early disposition conference is set for October 31. Sommers is currently on a $100,000 bond related to the charges, with a concurrent no-bail hold due to violating his post-release supervision.
