The widespread issue of familial violence has surfaced once again with a disturbing case in Yucca Valley. Sam Maddox, a local resident aged 38, is now facing charges of attempted murder against his own mother.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, the incident occurred on October 6. The victim, who retained her anonymity, has been hospitalized at the Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree. She allegedly lost consciousness after being strangled.
Following their investigation, deputies identified the suspect as the victim's son, Sam Maddox. The available evidence led to his arrest on charges of attempted murder. Maddox is currently held at the West Valley Detention Center, with a set bail rate of $1 million.
