Yesterday, law enforcement in the Morongo Basin arrested Peter Campos, a 35-year-old resident of Yucca Valley. Campos was charged with child endangerment and possession of a controlled substance in the presence of a firearm, following allegations from Twentynine Palms Junior High School.
Details released by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department revealed that allegations of physical child abuse were substantiated, pointing to Campos as the suspect. In 2021, Campos was previously arrested on similar charges involving the same victims.
A search warrant at Campos' residence yielded a stolen .38 special revolver, ammunition, and psilocybin mushrooms, signaling additional threats that victims of domestic abuse often contend with.
Campos is now held at the West Valley Detention Center with a set bail of $65,000, as reported by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
