Earlier today, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) utilized their latest technological tools to diffuse a standoff on a Metro bus in Hollywood. ABC7 reported an armed man was successfully apprehended with assistance from a drone and the LAPD "robot dog".
Officers were alerted to a potential threat by a suspicious male armed aboard a Metro bus. The driver rendered the bus immobile upon spotting the weapon-laden individual, promptly summoning law enforcement's help. Offering significant tactical support were LAPD's drone and "robot dog", referred to as the "quadruped." These pioneering tech entities ensured the safety of officers and bystanders. After the successful maneuver, the LAPD Public Information Office praised the "Quadruped's" efficient and safe performance via a tweet.
This morning LAPD SWAT officers deployed the Quadruped to assist with taking an armed suspect into custody. The use of this technology resolved the situation without putting officers or community members in harms way.

In this standoff, the "quadruped" enabled officers to operate without direct exposure to risk. Timeline details are still being investigated; however, another tweet from the LAPD PIO indicated that the armed suspect was asleep during the standoff, with the firearm in a precarious position. This situation was resolved without further complications by intelligently using the drone and the "robot dog".
When SWAT officers responded to the open-air barricade, they found the suspect sleeping on an MTA bus with a firearm at his feet. The QUVG robot was prepared to deploy when the suspect awoke and walked away from the firearm. He was taken into custody without incident.
