In a dramatic late-night freeway incident, Los Angeles firefighters fought to free two trapped individuals from the twisted wreckage of an overturned big rig on the 134 Freeway. The accident, which occurred near Figueroa Street in the Eagle Rock neighborhood, prompted an immediate and formidable response from the LAFD on Saturday night, according to a Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) alert.
The situation, described as a "Physical Rescue" in the LAFD alert, began unfolding at approximately 11:08 PM when emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of the accident, facing the daunting task of extricating two victims who had been ensnared within the confines of the overturned vehicle. Desperate for intervention, the firefighters were described as setting up "extrication measures on both sides of the big rig" to assist the individuals trapped inside.
The gravity of the rescue was later elucidated by an update from the LAFD. The updated alert, released close to midnight, specified that the big rig had actually come to rest just outside the Los Angeles city limits, east of Eagle Rock, placing the primary responsibility on the Pasadena Fire Department (PFD), albeit with the LAFD's invaluable assistance as stated in the Los Angeles Fire Department.
