Yesterday, an incident involving Dexter and Jareca McCluney, both 35, occurred outside a business in Palm Desert, California. The couple was accompanied by a large dog and they found themselves in an altercation involving a large knife, leading to their arrest by local law enforcement.

A press release by the Riverside County Sheriff's Office reported that deputies discovered Dexter, who was visibly agitated, had an outstanding felony warrant from San Bernardino County. Upon refusal to comply with officers' orders, Dexter pulled a large knife from his backpack, threatened his refusal to be arrested, and began inflicting self-harm, while Jareca firmly rejected commands to leave his side.

This situation required intervention from the Riverside County Crisis Negotiation Team and the Riverside County K9 Team. After hours of negotiation, Jareca and the dog were successfully removed from the scene. Subsequently, Dexter was effectively subdued, and because of his self-inflicted injuries, he needed immediate medical attention before being transported to a local hospital.

Dexter is now facing charges for brandishing a weapon at a peace officer, resisting arrest, and for his outstanding felony warrant. Jareca was also arrested for resisting arrest and is being held at the John Benoit Detention Center.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Office is encouraging anyone with further information relating to the incident to get in touch and aid in their ongoing investigation.
