Big River's apparent domestic tranquility was shattered Wednesday when a drug bust resulted in the arrest of a couple for allegedly leaving narcotics within the grasp of children, authorities said.
The duo, identified as Stephen Welsh, 45, and Jessica Gonzalez, 37, both residents of the desert town, landed in handcuffs after deputies discovered the dangerous substances during a raid on their home in the early morning hours, San Bernardino County Sheriff's officials announced.
San Bernardino's finest were executing a search warrant on the 150,000 block of Mojave Rd., where they stumbled upon the illicit items. Not only were unattended drugs found in the reach of minors, but items indicative of narcotics sales were scattered across the property as well, signaling a more sinister operation than mere possession.
Welsh faces serious charges, including child endangerment and possession of narcotics for sale, with his bail set at a steep $60,000.00. His counterpart, Gonzalez, was booked on a count of child endangerment according to an official statement.
