In Fairfield, a man's middle-of-the-night attempt to steal from a garage using a stolen remote led to his arrest instead. A 30-year-old Jairo Arteaga was arrested after he snuck into a vehicle parked on Gillespie Drive and made away with a garage door opener, which he then used to access the home's garage late in the night, according to the Fairfield Police Department's Facebook page.

The bold break-in occurred sometime around 12:50 a.m. on November 24. The culprit's scheme unraveled, however, when the homeowner, likely stirred by a mix of surprise and defense, stepped into the garage, causing Arteaga to flee. The chase didn't last long, though; Officer Khalfan was in the area and managed to sniff out the suspect on Wood Creek Drive at Armijo Court.

After the suspect was spotted, the suspect was quickly apprehended. "Arteaga was positively identified and arrested without incident," the police department detailed in their report.
