A traffic accident occurred on November 12, at Alamitos Avenue and Anaheim Street, Long Beach, claiming the life of an unidentified male pedestrian. A press release by the Long Beach Police Department indicates that the pedestrian was hit by a northbound vehicle while standing in the middle of the avenue, outside the crosswalk. The vehicle did not remain at the scene.
Officers arriving at the scene found a critically injured, unconscious man. He was promptly transported to a local hospital by the Long Beach Fire Department, but later succumbed to his injuries. The victim's identity will be released by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner upon notification of the next of kin.
