Residents in Sunnyside were surprised when a duplex went up in flames last Sunday evening. As reported by the HFD Newsroom, this occurred on November 26, shortly before 8 p.m., at the 7900 block of Bowen St. Brawny firefighters were on the scene within three minutes, working to douse the flames that were already chomping through the structure.

According to HFD Newsroom, there were no injuries were listed. The property, worth an estimated $320,400,  was not harmed however the blaze caused around $70,000 in damage. The cause was an unintentional short circuit arc from mechanical damage.

A total of 33 firefighters from Stations 23, 21, 46, and a few more rushed to eliminate the fire. They busted in with an offensive attack, hacked a hole for ventilation, and wrangled the utilities into submission, ensuring the blaze was tamed. Residents are currently being assisted by the American Red Cross.
