
On November 6, a man was rescued by firefighters after he fell over 15 feet down a storm drain in Fort Worth. The incident on Tolleson Drive in the west of the city was responded to around 8:45 p.m., as reported by the Star-Telegram.
The man fell through a drain culvert that had been concealed by a piece of plywood. Lacking proper safety measures, the man accidentally stepped on the unstable covering and fell into the open drain. His predicament underscores the importance of city infrastructure maintenance and the dangers of hazardous conditions, according to Yahoo News.
On arrival, the Fort Worth Fire Department immediately began their rescue operation. The rescuers descended into the trench, using an extension ladder to reach the man and provide him medical assistance. A technical rescue team established a system to lift him out, demonstrating their teamwork and skillful execution as referenced in the Star-Telegram.
Post rescue, the victim was taken to local hospital for further treatment. Based on a Star-Telegram tweet from November 6, the man was in stable condition the following day.
