
In the Apple Valley neighborhood, a man welcomed violence upon his friend in a home on Rimrock Road E. 19-year-old Valentino Leon Martinez Veltri stands accused of punching a 62-year-old several times over an argument. According to a report by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, deputies were called to the scene late Wednesday night to suddenly put an end to the alleged assault.
Deputy A. Sanders arrived to bear witness to the aftermath and the story of friendly banter gone wrong. Deputy D. Ramires was able to apprehend Martinez Veltri a stone's throw from where the victim's evening took an unexpected turn.
Martinez Veltri now faces charges for assault with a deadly weapon, raising questions about what constitutes such a weapon under the law. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department relayed that the suspect now resides at the High Desert Detention Center, with his freedom hinged on a $40,000 bail.
