Authorities have apprehended two suspects implicated in the kidnapping and robbery of an elderly couple from Midlothian, Texas, last month. Jeffrey Stayns Fernando, 22, of Plano, and Akash Tyagi of Frisco face multiple charges, including organized criminal activity with a deadly weapon according to Irving Weekly.
Suspects Fernando and Tyagi are not the first arrests connected to the crime. Noah Gulzar, 20, was previously detained for his involvement. The elderly victims, a couple aged 72 and 68, escaped their captors when two briefly left them unattended. They managed to stab the remaining kidnapper with a kitchen knife before locating a nearby house to dial 911 as per Irving Weekly's report.
The kidnappers seemingly planned to exploit the victim's financial assets as part of their criminal plot as Fox4News informed. The couple had an unspecified prior business relationship with Gulzar, with details about the link between the business relationship and the crime remaining undisclosed by the police.
