Last Saturday, a violent incident occurred in Hesperia, California. Joseph Carter, a 31-year-old man from Victorville, is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home and assaulting a man with a hammer. The report is according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department.
The suspect, Joseph Carter, reportedly obstructed his ex-girlfriend's garage with his vehicle, trapping her and a man inside the house. It's alleged that Carter then gained entry to the house via a rear window, wielding a hammer.
Upon discovering the occupants, Carter is reported to have chased them into the garage. He began breaking the car windows they were hiding in with the hammer. As described by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, Carter allegedly smashed the passenger window, forcibly removed the man from the vehicle, and attacked him with the hammer. The man sustained severe injuries and was subsequently hospitalized.
The suspect was arrested while trying to escape the scene. The hammer was found in his vehicle. As for Carter, he is currently awaiting trial, with bail set at $40,000. The act brings to light concerns regarding domestic violence and the provision of support for victims.
