In North Hollywood, a blaze erupted from the rooftop of a commercial building on Cahuenga Boulevard. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that flames and thick smoke were seen pouring from a cannabis-growing operation housed within. According to a statement obtained by the LAFD, it took 87 firefighters less than half an hour to subdue the inferno.
Determined to be growing cannabis, the fire was confined to the premises and its ventilation system, with the LAFD controlling the incident reported at 4:46 a.m. "No injuries reported," said Brian Humphrey of the LAFD in a statement, with the flames being extinguished by 5:14 a.m.
The cause of the fire, tumbling out like the smoke from those eager exhaust systems, is currently under investigation.
