Yesterday, a multiple-vehicle collision caused a pickup truck to slam into Raffallo's Pizza shop at 1657 N. La Brea Ave. in Hollywood, resulting in at least one person requiring hospital treatment. This event has potentially affected the building's structural integrity. The injured individual, a 32-year-old man, was rushed to the hospital following the incident at around 9:30 p.m., as per the LAFD ALERT.
Emergency responders arrived to find two sedans in T-bone positions at the intersection with the pickup truck embedded in the building's façade. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reported a "probable compromise of the structural integrity of the front of the restaurant." The LAFD's Urban Search and Rescue team was on site to assess and stabilize the building.
Amid debris scattered on the road, a strong police, fire, and emergency team presence was noticed at the intersection of La Brea Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard, as reported by the KTLA. While authorities are hard at work to accurately determine the collision's cause, the status of others involved in the wreck remains undisclosed.
Presently, representatives from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety are scheduled to further examine the building's suitability for occupancy, according to the LAFD ALERT.
