A beloved icon of Houston's Arandas Bakery has been pilfered, leaving the community seeking justice. The bakery's cherished "Panadero" statue, greeting customers with its flour-dusted smile for three decades, was swiped on Thanksgiving evening, as reported by the Houston Chronicle

One Arandas employee lamented to KHOU, "The monetary value isn’t much, but for us, it is a sentimental value." The significance of the "Panadero" extends beyond mere decoration; it embodies the pioneering spirit of a local bakery that has risen to become a community staple, making the disappearance all the more difficult to swallow.

Determined to knead out a resolution, the bakery owners have connected with the sticky-fingered statue swiper through a mediator. They’re extending an olive branch, giving the thief until Friday evening to return the statue before they turn up the heat and bring in the police, according to the bakery's statement issued Wednesday and obtained by the Houston Chronicle.

Arandas has expressed a willingness to forgive the perpetrator, affirming, "He was given the opportunity to return the baker to us without having to involve the police. We respect that this individual is doing the right thing, and for that reason, he has our word," as per KHOU.
