Yesterday, the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD) caught an alleged car thief and identity fraudster. The department detailed the arrest on their Facebook page, depicting the thief being apprehended with stolen property, including a car and several stolen checks.
HBPD reported that the stolen vehicle was discovered and a traffic stop was initiated at around 1:00 p.m. The thief surrendered himself to the police and subsequent investigations revealed his involvement in identity theft, evidenced by the stolen checks found in his possession.
HBPD's attention to detail led them to identify the possible victim of the identity theft, suggesting even a broader scope of criminal activity. With charges of grand theft auto and identity theft levied against him, the suspect spent Halloween night in police custody.
