The City of Irvine Animal Care Center is broaching the winter season with a spirit of compassion as it gears up for its 17th Annual Home for the Holidays Pet Adoption Fair on December 10. The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., strives to find loving homes for hundreds of adoptable pets and acts as an extension of the community's support for animal shelters and rescue groups according to the press release.
Beyond facilitating pet adoptions, the event aims to introduce to the public resources and services catering to the needs of pets and their human friends. As stated by the City of Irvine, gourmet food trucks and a bake sale, coupled with a wide range of vendors offering pet-related products and services, will be available. An opportunity drawing for fun prizes and to support programs aiding animals in need will also take place.
A vet will have checked every pet and made sure they are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and duly vaccinated in accordance with their age, providing assurance for their health and well-being. A modest admission fee of $5 applies, though children enter free, and free parking is available for all attendees.
The Home for the Holidays Adoption Fair contributes more than just finding homes for animals. Its funding and awareness endeavors manage to support various programs aimed at the betterment of animals' lives. Among them is one called the Third Chance for Pets program, which helps animals transferred from other shelters because of a lack of facilities or overcrowding.
Donations to the fair's opportunity drawing are welcome, which can be in the form of different items like gift baskets, certificates, or other items. These act as a testament to the community's commitment to animals, highlighting a balance between immediate relief for adoptable animals and long-term support.
