On November 8, Long Beach was honored with the Most Business-Friendly City Award in Los Angeles County at the Eddy Awards®, an annual event organized by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC). The city earned this accolade for its unwavering dedication to creating an inclusive, supportive business environment, according to an official press release.
The Eddy Awards® aim to promote an equitable, sustainable and resilient Los Angeles regional economy. Thus, Long Beach earning the award is an indication of the city's commitment to craft an environment conducive to businesses and budding entrepreneurs.
As the Economic Development Director, Bo Martinez noted, "This award recognizes the heightened level of service the City provides to local businesses, interested entrepreneurs, and investors." Long Beach's accolade can be attributed to programs it has instilled to offer technical assistance, access to capital, business activation, and the BizCare hotline for entrepreneurs, thus effectively reducing bureaucratic hindrances, as per Bo Martinez.
Additionally, the city's Economic Development Department has introduced ambitious initiatives like the Grow Long Beach Initiative and Economic Development Blueprint 2.0, seeking to diversify targeted industries, leverage local talent, and cultivate an inclusive economy. These initiatives are outlined on their official website.
