
As winter nears, the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation, and Marine (PRM) is preparing a broad range of recreational classes for its residents. According to a recent press release, online registration for these classes will open on Monday, November 6. Course offerings are as diverse as the population they serve, accommodating individuals from preschool age to seniors over 50, and cover areas including art, music, fitness, sports, and education.
The multifaceted classes are designed to engage residents in exercise, promote social interactions, provide learning opportunities, and enhance relaxation. The complete list of winter classes may be found in the latest issue of the Recreation Connection or online at LBParks.org. Listing can also be seen at Long Beach Park community centers and Long Beach Public Library branches.
A sneak peek into the class roster reveals a plethora of enriching activities suited for all ages. Preschoolers can explore cooking, Spanish language immersion, ballet, music, pre-K readiness, basketball, soccer, and T-ball. Other activities like cooking, ballet, tap and hip hop, Mexican Folklorico dance, basketball, soccer, T-ball, math and reading development, martial arts, and soccer are available for older kids.
Teens can choose among a variety of classes such as ceramics, drawing, and cooking or onboard courses like online driver’s education, fitness, and martial arts. Adults can delve into ceramics, drawing, quilting, dance, dog training, fitness, yoga, and martial arts. Furthermore, those aged 50 and above can choose from classes designed specifically for them, such as line dancing, movement and balance, Zumba, and yoga.
Registrations for these classes can be completed online at LBParks.org, via phone call at 562.570.3111, or by visiting the Registration Reservations Office located at 2760 Studebaker Road during weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PRM also offers convenient in-person registration appointments for residents.
