Earlier today, Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) firefighters contended with a grass fire in the Sepulveda Basin area. The blaze, commencing around 9:14 a.m. at 15700 W Burbank Bl, was reported by the LAFD ALERT, outlining a quarter-acre burn with 10 miles per hour winds. However, no structures were endangered.
In an LAFD update, it was reported that a group of 32 LAFD firefighters, in tandem with the LAFD Crew 3-A volunteer hand crew, effectively extinguished the fire after 57 minutes. Establishing anchored firebreaks and advanced hose lines, the teams also capitalized on the existing dam acting as a firebreak, ultimately confining damage to two acres.
With the fire suppressed, crews maintained a presence at the scene to address any residual hot spots or smoldering material within the fire's footprint. Consequently, no structures were ravaged, and no injury reports arose, providing solace for local residents and authorities.
