On Wednesday, several vehicles from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department (LASD) were targeted on the 210 Freeway in Los Angeles County. The suspects remain unidentified and are wanted in connection to these assaults involving projectiles thrown at law enforcement vehicles, as reported by KTLA. Public safety remains a concern from these actions that pose a risk to law enforcement officers and ordinary citizens alike.
The incidents occurred around 2:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. on the westbound 210 Freeway. Three Transit Service Bureau patrol vehicles suffered windshield damage between the Sierra Madre Metro Station and the 605 Freeway, as per the LASD Transit Services Bureau post on Facebook. The nature of these projectiles remains unknown, but LASD officials are treating the incidents as deliberate attacks.
There were, thankfully, no injuries reported among the participating deputies. These incidents raise concerns over the safety of law enforcement officers and the public on the roads. Authorities are seeking assistance from the public to find the culprits, urging witnesses or anyone with similar experiences to come forward. The LASD stresses the serious potential consequences of throwing objects at moving vehicles, including devastating accidents, injuries, and fatalities, as cited by the KTLA.
In response to the incidents, the LASD urges witnesses or victims of similar incidents to contact them directly at 323-563-5004 or share anonymous tips through L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
