Authorities persist in their search for answers in the ongoing investigation surrounding the death of Dallas ISD teacher's assistant, Jennifer Mendez Olascoaga, whose body was identified by the Dallas County Medical Examiner yesterday. The cause behind the untimely passing of Mendez has yet to be announced making it a possible homicide under investigation by Mesquite police, as reported by FOX 4 News.
Before her disappearance, Jennifer, 24, had been seen for the last time on September 27, dropping a friend off at a Seagoville mobile home park. Further details provided by the Dallas Morning News reveal that the last visual evidence of her presence was captured on a Dallas QuikTrip surveillance video, where she bought a beverage and food. Mendez's abandoned white 2015 Buick La Cross was discovered in Mesquite near Milam Road and Lawson Road the next morning. Her cell phone and handbag were noticeably absent from the car.
Seagoville investigators, in the immediate aftermath of Jennifer's disappearance, conducted a search that led to the discovery of her remains in a wooded area about a mile away from where her car was located off Interstate 20. It took a month for the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office to positively identify the body as Mendez due to its condition.
Authorities are investigating menacing text messages sent to her family and friends shortly after her disappearance. One message ominously hinted at perils to recipients, while another suggested her body will never be found, further suggesting criminal activities.
The Mesquite Police Department continues its dedicated endeavour to unearth any information that may highlight Jennifer's case, as reported by NBC DFW. They remain committed to examining all available pieces of evidence and potential witnesses' testimonies in the connection to Jennifer's tragic demise.
In the face of this tragic loss, Jennifer's family is refraining from making any public statements at present, according to FOX 4 News. Despite the harrowing circumstances, they are in the process of organizing Jennifer's funeral.
