Heather Schwab, 35, was found dead this year inside the home of her boyfriend, Chad Christopher Stevens, in McKinney, Texas. Schwab had been reported missing in June as press released by NBC News.
McKinney police, acting on a tip, located her body in Stevens' Pearson Avenue residence. Stevens, 42, was charged with tampering with evidence, with no additional charges filed so quickly yet.
Neighbors Jeremy Budde and Victor Mendoza described Stevens' behavior as "nervous" and "paranoid." According to Budde, Schwab hadn't been seen among neighbors for a year and was often seen in the company of Stevens.
The McKinney police have released no further details about Schwab's relationship to Stevens or the report of her being missing. Budde, however, related a previous conversation with Stevens in which he claimed that Schwab had died from cancer.
A year ago, Budde reported Stevens to the McKinney police due to suspected illicit activities. Stevens has a criminal record, including drug charges, theft, and assault.
At this sorrowful time, Heather Schwab's family has asked for privacy, expressing gratitude to the McKinney Police Department for their efforts in finding Heather in a released statement as per NBC News.
As the investigation into Heather Schwab's death continues, the information provided to the community and her family is minimal. The nature of Schwab's tragic demise underscores the harsh reality of how personal struggles can reach a deadly climax unobserved by those around.
