A North Texas family is mourning the loss of Rosita Ushanna Sherfield, a mother of eight, who died in a hit-and-run last week, according to the Dallas Morning News. Sherfield's family and the local police are urging the public to help identify the vehicles involved in the fatal incident.
The accident occurred on November 1st, approximately at 8:15 p.m., near Braswell High School in Little Elm. Sherfield's family is dealing with the aftereffects of their incredible loss. Daughter Aliyah Rankin expressed the stress the family is experiencing in a NBC DFW interview, stating, "I'm trying to hold up, I mean, I'm kind of traumatized."
Rankin told NBC news, "My little sister is asking me every day, 'My mommy's in heaven. Are you sure or are you tricking me?'"
To aid in identifying the two vehicles—a dark-colored SUV and a white Honda—involved, Little Elm Police have reached out to eyewitnesses, surveillance footage, and auto body shops.
Coping with this tragic incident, Sherfield's family also faces the financial strain of funeral and memorial costs. A GoFundMe campaign, set up by Sherfield's sister, aims to cover these expenses.
