The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) released a statement on November 11, confirming the capture of Sandro Edgardo Mendieta. Mendieta is implicated in a North Hills fatal hit-and-run incident on November 9, in which a motorcyclist was killed.
The LAPD's newsroom reports detail that 31-year-old Mendieta was alleged to have been driving recklessly at high-speed, thus colliding with a motorcyclist and causing damage to parked vehicles. After the incident, Mendieta attempted to flee the country but was apprehended close to the Mexican border. He now faces murder charges.
The deceased motorcyclist, a white male in his late 50s, was declared dead on the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.
