Operation Green Light for Veterans is a campaign aimed at honoring U.S. veterans and providing them with resources. The initiative achieves this through an impressive sight of green lights flashing on buildings across Los Angeles County, according to the media release.

Yesterday, the L.A. County Departments of Public Social Services (DPSS), Military and Veterans Affairs (MVA), and Mental Health (DMH), hosted a special lighting ceremony as part of this operation. DPSS Director Jackie Contreras, MVA Director James Zenner, and Rhonda Higgins, DMH Veteran Peer Access Network (VPAN) Program Manager, led the event. A significant number of DPSS employees also had a chance to participate in the ceremony.

Contreras touched on the importance of addressing the unique needs for the veterans as some of them face challenges that many may not comprehend. As a solution, the departments pledged to work with county-wide organizations serving these veterans to provide necessary resources and services.

Operation Green Light emphasizes the importance of recognizing the veteran's transition into civilian life after service. The L.A. County Departments aim to ensure that veterans going through such transitions get the assistance needed.

For veterans needing access to food, shelter, medical services, or employment training, DPSS encourages calling 866-613-3777 or visiting the DPSS website for assistance. The Department of Mental Health Veteran Peer Access Network (VPAN) or the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Veteran Support Line at (800) 854-7771 operates seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. to provide additional support.
